Yea!
Just the Place for a Community Conversation
Jill
Allen, Manager for Anglicare Victoria Hume Region, is delighted to
announce that plans are underway to host a Community Conversation in
Yea on Tuesday, 27 March at the Yea Shire Hall. The workshop will
run from 6.00 – 9.00pm and a light supper will be provided
throughout the evening.
The
Conversation will focus on the experiences of the young people and
children in Yea and surrounding communities.
“Healthy
communities have a good idea about what is happening for their
members, including our children and young people,” said Jill “Our
conversation will explore a series of questions that will generate
energy and focus our attention to what really matters in the hearts
and minds of our young folk.”
Community
Conversation: What’s it
All About?
Communities
discover what they care about through conversation. Conversation
is part of life and it’s an important part of community building.
In conversation, we not onlydiscover
what we care about, we uncover new ideas for building healthy
community.
The
conversation will be facilitated by Jill, who has chosen a ‘global
café’ structure for the workshop. The global café is a simple
method for hosting conversations about questions that matter.
Conversations link and build on each other as people move between
groups, cross-pollinate ideas and discover new insights into issues.
During
the conversational process the ‘global café’ can evoke and make
visible the collective wisdom of the group, thus increasing the
capacity for effective action.
We
hope to discover together trends and directions in the conversations
which will later enable the community to make decisions about future
directions.
“There
are lots of opportunities for people to get involved and make the
conversation a memorable event.”

What Is Christmas About To You?
We each have our own ideas about what makes Christmas special to us but most of us agree that it is based on caring and sharing.
In the spirit of Christmas and the spirit of this great little town St Luke;s OP SHOP will be providing Christmas Hampers to those in need this Christmas,
St Luke’s Op
Shop is all about COMMUNITY and has been an important part of Yea for many years;
it responds to community need and provides the Anglican Parish of Yea with a
revenue source for ministry activities and the opportunity to build, strengthen
and develop community. We always welcome new volunteers to the Op Shop and we
are privileged to have a great team of over 35 locals who share their time at
the Op Shop.
Registration forms for Christmas Hampers are available
at the Op Shop and our volunteers will be happy to assist you with them if you
feel you have a need. We hope that hampers will be available for pick-up to all
registered recipients from Sunday 18th December - Thursday 22nd
December 2011. This is not about who is worthy and who is not, everyone has a
different perception of need and of course there are also many levels within
that.
So our
principle is simple, it is based on caring and sharing to assist everyone to
have a good Christmas.
If any businesses or individuals would like to offer donations
of any kind – (time, products or cash) we would of course welcome any extras as
that will allow us to give more, to care more, to share more in our community.
